Dee Margo, Texas House District 78 candidate, has filed another special pre-election report telegram with the Texas Ethics Commission showing the Stars over Texas PAC gave him another $25,000.

That pushes their investment in Margo to more than $100,000.

The Republican political action committee, heavily funded by Speaker Tom Craddick, emerged from the ashes of TRMPAC, sharing its predecessor's mission to maintain a Republican majority in Texas. The PAC is Margo's largest contributor.

The late donation suggests that the Republican leadership is worried that Margo, who looked to be a shoo-in last month, will lose the race to Moody.

Since weathering "blog-gate," Moody has released TV ads, blanketed the city with mail-outs and raked in the cash.

Margo led Moody 46 to 34 percent in a scientific survey published in the El Paso Times on Sunday. Fifteen percent of the respondents were undecided.

HD 78 is seen by both parties as crucial to their plans for control of the legislature which is why the race has raised more money -- more than $1 million -- than any other El Paso house race in history.
