From the Austin American-Statesman, we find that Michelle Valles pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge and was sentenced to two years probation.
She initially was charged with drunken driving.
The episode sparked some commentary over at tvspy.com, which noted that her station, KXAN, had not covered her guilty plea.
Valles was arrested in November in Austin.
A report in the Austin American-Statesman said that Valles was seen at Pangaea a new club that held a preview night for media and invited guests.
The Statesman's website also quoted the Austin PD arrest affidavit as stating that Valles was pulled over a little before 2 a.m.
Valles refused a breathalyzer test at the scene, and told the arresting officer that she had consumed two vodka tonics earlier that evening.
Valles started her television career at KTSM-Channel 9 in El Paso right after college.

The only reason El Paso still covers this is because she's beautiful. Well, I take that back. She hasn't been aging that well. When KXAN starts broadcasting in HD, you will probably notice even more. That's okay, she's the only reason I watch KXAN. Hence the facebook group: http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=3669840260&ref=ts

Ditto, J.J. For us Spanish speakers: "No meneen tanto la cuchara." Translation: Stop stirring the pot. Plus, it's sexist to refer to her physical beauty or lack of it.

Remember eventhough she's a talking head, she's still human. I take issue with her hair however (KXAN link). Whats up with dat, have you no shame, HAVE YOU NO SHAME Chicana? Sad sad day in El Chuco!

People in the spotlight make mistakes like the rest of us. Drinking and driving is never acceptable. Those who make millions need to hire drivers. Those who make less need to be more careful.

How funny that so many people feel that those in the public eye should have their lives hidden from the rest of us. It would be ok for Ms. Valles to report on a public official arrested for DUI but its not ok for newspaper tree to report on a public figure, ie News Anchor, to not be reported?
Has society become so complacent to issues such as DWI, drug addiction etc that seeing someone in the public eye commit such an offense means nothing anymore? Or is it the "by the grace of God go I" attitude.
Someone who reports the news needs to understand that they cannot also become the news. It is a standard that those of us that have used journalism as a career in the past have agreed to for years to uphold.
I see nothing wrong with this report. Good job newspaper tree.

Michelle, you have reported on DUIs and now you are accused of the same. If with only two vodka tonics you swerved, thank goodness you and anyone else on the road with you weren't hurt. Your BAD! Drinking and driving do NOT mix, or shaken not stirred, or whatever, Never. Good you got stopped, for your sake. Well, lets all learn from this and stay safe out there!
