German Armed Forces Big Band der Bundeswehr

UTEP and the German Air Force contingency at Ft. Bliss are proud to present The Big Band der Bundeswehr , a big band made up of members of the German Armed Forces members who will bring their sounds of swing, pop and rock toMagoffin Auditorium on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Die Big Band is a staple of the German Armed Forces that tours world wide spreading their sounds to audiences of all cultures and ages. Led by Lt. Col. Christoph Lieder, The Big Band is held to his high standard delivering music that is technically difficult, upbeat and inspiring.

A part of the Ft. Bliss/El Paso community for over 50 years, the German Air Force at Ft. Bliss is proud to share their big band with our community, the Big Band der Bundeswehr last visited El Paso in 1999 when they performed at UTEP.

The Bundeswehr (German for "Armed Forces") is the name of the unified armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany and their civil administration and procurement authorities. German states are not allowed to maintain armed forces of their own as constitutional law prescribes that matters of defense fall into the sole responsibility of the federal government.
